Tuesday, Week 26:

Exercise:
Yes I did!  Monday morning and Tuesday morning.  I love doing KettleWorx kettlebells first thing in the morning.  Well... first thing meaning after I go to the bathroom, put on my exercise clothes, let the dogs out, let the dogs in, put the dogs back to bed and then first thing is my workout... all by myself, in the living room, while everyone in the house is asleep.

Daily Comments:
I am so thrilled that every day exercises, that were very difficult if not impossible the first time, are getting easier.  Like the "Plank".  First day I could only do like 10 to 15 seconds.  Or the "Upright Row".  In a sitting position leaning back with your feet off the floor, engaging your upper abs and lower abs, row the kettlebell to the left and the right like you are in a canoe... keeping your feet off the floor.  First day I could not do it... so I did it with my heels on the floor.  Next few days, not so pretty.  But as the days have gone by it is getting easier.  Today I did it with my feet off the floor.. on the first set.  Maybe tomorrow or the next day I will be able to do it on the first set, the second set and the third set.  I have a ways to go but I can see improvement.  What ever you decide to do for exercise... it will get easier.  Pick an exercise you enjoy... so you will stick with it... and then look for your daily improvements of getting stronger and building strength and endurance.

Spiritual Thought:
Ephesians 3:20-21
Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. (NLT)

Sunday, Week 26:

Exercise:
It's Sunday!  I was up and Kettlebelling at 7:00 a.m.  Today I did my KettleWorx DVD "Resistance".  I'm getting better at the Baseball Catcher exercise.  I am squatting better and keeping my balance better while lifting up on my toes and back down on my heels.  Do a little bit everyday and it just keeps getting better and better.

Daily Comments:
Arianna, my grand baby, looked so beautiful today at church.  I wish I had taken a picture to share.  She had on an antique white cotton dress that I bought her at Holiday in the Grove craft show.  It was made from an antique pillow case with embroidered flowers.  It gathers at the neck with ribbon that ties at the shoulders in big pink bows.  Under the dress she wore a delicate pink long sleeve blouse and white tights that had pink shoes as part of the tights.  To top it off she was wearing a pink headband with a big pink bow.  She was an explosion of bows.   She was beautiful!!

Inspirational Thoughts:

Here are a couple of tips:

Prevent idle hands: Being in front of the television is one of the biggest reasons people forget about portion control. To avoid bad snacking throughout a show, give your hands something else to do. Take up knitting, fill in a crossword or fold some laundry—the more your hands have to do, the less time they'll spend reaching for food.

Pose slimmer: Everyone knows the camera adds ten pounds, but what celebrities know is how to make it look like you lost a few. Make your next photo more flattering by placing one hand on your hip and leaning toward the opposite side. This will elongate your torso and make your arms look leaner.

Stair step your goals: Having just one big goal may be simple, but it can be more frustrating to reach. Try adding a few small goals along the way, like going to the gym three days in a week or eating a vegetable at every meal. Small accomplishments will help make the whole experience more rewarding.

Jeremiah 29:11
"For I know the plans I have for you," says the Lord. "They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope." (NLT)

Saturday, Week 25:

Weigh in Day!
It is a good day.  I lost 2 pounds.  Yea!!

I am currently weighing in at 168 pounds.  Gone are 36 pounds!!  I pray the pounds keep melting away or Kettlebelling away.  Woo Hoo!!  Man!  It feels good.

Daily Comments:
Wednesday February 8th, a week and a half from now, I am scheduled for hernia and bladder surgery.  I will continue to do my KettleWorx kettlebell exercises and my "Plank" ab exercises up until that day.

After surgery, I will walk on my treadmill or at the mall or around the office at work.  Walking will be my only form of exercise for 6 to 8 weeks, each doctor has a different time line of restrictions.  This will not deter me from my weight loss goals.  I am looking forward to being in the best health I have been in ever.

I am on my way out the door to enjoy the day and run a few errands.

Inspirational Thoughts:
Romans 8
More Than Conquerors
31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? 33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. 34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?
36 As it is written:
   “For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”[j]
37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,[k] neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, 39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Thursday, Week 25:

Exercise:
I sleepily turned off the alarm this morning instead of hitting the snooze button.  Therefore, I was very late getting up.  I resorted to 15 minutes of my own kettlebelling without the DVD.  I worked on arms and abs.  I did 60 seconds of "The Plank".  I tried to "Plank" a second time.  I was only able to do 25 seconds.

Ways to keep your metabolism revved up at work

Metabolism. Simply put, it's the process by which the body makes and uses energy (calories) for everything from the cellular absorption of nutrients to running a marathon. Sounds like pretty boring science on paper. Except that knowing how to efficiently metabolize calories could translate into a healthier body. Metabolism slows as we age, by as much as two percent a year, it also slows from inactivity, stress, and not eating right. Whether you're trying to lose extra pounds or preparing for the inevitable metabolic slowing that comes with age, we could all use a little more focus on keeping our metabolism up, and probably the hardest place to do it is when we are stuck behind out desk at work, so here are a few surefire ways to keep your metabolism revved up at work to keep your energy pulsating and your body in shape.

AT WORK

Get moving. Most of us don't like to hear it, but to boost your metabolism, you have to get moving. Take the stairs instead of the elevator, if you need to talk to someone about an issue walk over to their office rather than call, at lunch time try to get outside, even just a short 10 minute walk can rev up your metabolism for hours. Try stretching every two hours during the day, just take 5 minutes, stand, and complete a few stretches. Sitting for 8 hours is one of the worse things we can do for our metabolism.

Eat. It may sound crazy to those trying to lose weight by severely restricting their daily caloric intake, but the problem with this school of thought, is that it actually slows metabolism. When our bodies don't get enough fuel they slow down and try to conserve the fuel they have, thus slowing metabolism. Try eating several small meals rather than just a few large ones, recent studies suggest eating every three to four hours (this will also prevent for from getting very hungry and overeating).

Drink water. Staying well hydrated is essential to flushing the body of toxic byproducts that are released when fat is burned. Cold water may also give your metabolism at least a small boost because energy is required to heat the body.

Avoid sugar. When you eat sugar your body begin storing the food as fat, however when you eat food low in sugar (such as lean meats, fruits, and vegetables) your body is forced to break these foods down to help maintain an even blood-sugar level, and in turn keeping your metabolism higher.

Eat breakfast. It's a fact that people who eat a healthy breakfast are skinnier than people who don't. And try to think outside the box. A breakfast bowl of vegetables and brown rice is a great way to kick-start your metabolism for the day.

Include hot foods. If Mexican and Thai are favorites, you're in luck; spicy food that has hot peppers in it appears to boost metabolism.

Drink green tea. There are unhealthy things that can boost your metabolism, like a really strong cup of coffee, or nicotine, but I would never say go have a cigarette! Nor overdo it on caffeine, which also has undesirable side effects. Instead, go for green tea which is known to stimulate metabolism longer and more effectively than coffee.

Avoid stress. Although much easier said than done, it is one of the key factors to keeping your metabolism high. Stress can actually cause weight gain, particularly around the stomach because physical and emotional stress activates the release of cortisol, a chemical in the body that slows metabolism.

AT HOME

Exercise. Muscle is the single most important predictor or how well you metabolize your food, how well you burn calories and burn body fat," insists Shari Lieberman, author of Dare to Lose. Strength training with dumbbells or resistance bands at least twice a week is essential to boosting your metabolism. And here's the really good news: Your metabolism stays pumped for many hours after you finish your workout.

Sleep. Research shows that people who don't sleep for seven to eight hours a night are more prone to weight gain. Additionally, we now know that lean muscle is regenerated in the final couple of hours of sleep each night. Which takes you right back to the importance of exercise!

Inspirational Thought:

Cast all your anxiety on him, because he cares for you. Discipline yourselves, keep alert. Like a roaring lion your adversary the devil prowls around, looking for someone to devour. Resist him, steadfast in your faith. And after you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, who has called you to his eternal glory in Christ, will himself restore, support, strengthen, and establish you. (1 Peter 5:7-9a,10)

There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love. We love because he first loved us. (1 John 4:18-19)

Wednesday, Week 25:

Exercise:
My radio alarm went off at 5:45 a.m.  I snoozed it till 6:10 a.m.  I rolled out of bed at 6:15 a.m.  I did my KettleWorx "Cardio", all 3 sets.  It was not a struggle.  I love it!  I was working those abs today.  I used my 10 lb Kettlebell for the entire routine.

Daily Comments:
The weight may be coming off slowly... maybe too slowly... but I am feeling so much better.  I have to remember that and I will stick by what I said about doing a little bit each day and it will add up.

I am kinda stuck (I hate the word plateau) at the moment at the same weight.  But... if I have to lose weight, stop and enjoy it, lose weight, stop and enjoy it, that is OK!!!  At the moment, I am enjoying it.  I am wearing size 12 slacks.  That is so awesome!!  Down from a size 16 to a size 12.  Wow!  I can enjoy that for a while.  I am also  wearing size large and medium in blouses.  That is an improvement over the extra large sizes that I was wearing.

I am also enjoying eating.  I am not over eating cause I am not gaining weight but I could be eating less and losing more.  I can and will work on that a little.

Have you seen my grand kids lately?
Arianna is 4 months old and Anthony is 17 years old.

Aren't they gorgeous?
I think they are perfect!!

Anthony is involved in wrestling at his school.  I am privileged to go and watch him wrestle tonight!

Tuesday, Week 25:

Exercise:
I got my alarm to work today on the "radio" wake up setting instead of the "ring" wake up setting.  But... this morning I kept hitting the snooze button and I slept way too long.  I started my KettleWorx anyway.  Yea!!  Instead of 2 sets of routines today, the DVD for week two had 3 sets.  I had to stop after set 2 not because I was tired but I would have been running really late.  I will get myself out of bed in the morning and do all 3 sets.  The bed is just so inviting that I do not want to get up.

Wow!  Sunday went by so quickly and I did not blog.  Worship, singing and praising was excellent!.  After church, Steve, Marty and I went to Applebee's for lunch.  I enjoyed the Oriental Chicken Salad again.  It is do good!!

After lunch we shopped at the grocery store.  One of my new years resolutions is to try and start using coupons.  I saved $33.00 this trip.  When we got home and while I was putting away the groceries, I started a chocolate cake baking.  Life Group, our small group church group that meets in homes on Sunday nights, started at 5:30 p.m. and I was bringing the dessert.  I made a Yoplait strawberry yogurt and Cool Whip icing for the chocolate cake.  It was delicious!!

Before I knew it I was waking up this morning. (The alarm needs to go in the trash.  It did not go off again!!) I was making my way out of bed, planning to KettleWorx when... I was... "distracted"... (cough cough)... and I enjoyed a different kind of exercise this morning.  Enough said!!

Saturday, Week 24:

Exercise:
I walked at the mall.  I parked at the far end and had to walk all the way to the other end for a hair appointment.  As I pulled into the parking garage of the mall my mother was parking her car.  I pulled in behind her and honked my horn.  She was there to walk and get her exercise.  We got to walk in together and talk for a little bit.  That was a nice surprise.

Daily comments:
I enjoyed my time out of the house today.  My hair cut looks great!  The person cutting it now, cut my hair dry.  That way she can see how where the cowlicks are at and she can cut accordingly.  She does an awesome job and really listens to what I want.  I love how my hair falls into place after a good haircut.

While I was at the mall I bought my favorite perfume, Tresor.  I also bought a small size of Tresor in Love.  I didn't even know Tresor had other perfumes.  I sprayed myself with Tresor Midnight Rose while I was choosing which perfumes I was going to purchase.  (I had forgotten to put on perfume before I left the house.)  It was way too spicy and I had to wear it all day.  I like perfume to be light and delicate.  I like perfume to make a subtle statement.

I went to Applebee's for lunch all by myself and ate the Oriental Chicken Salad.  It was goo-ood!!  I enjoyed the food and read my Kindle Fire.  Excellent way to spend my lunchtime.

My next stop was PetSmart.  I picked up puppy food, treats, and bones.  I couldn't pass up chew toys.  So, I got a frog, a bear to replace the mangled one arm one leg bear that we have, and a lion with a braided body.  All toys are small because they are for the chihuahuas, Gidget and Pikachu.  Magic does not play with toys.  I guess we were bad parents when she was a puppy.  She loves rawhide bones but will not play with toys.

I spoiled myself with a manicure and pedicure.

 It was a great day!!

Today was weigh in day.  I did not lose any weight.  That would have made today better but it's OK.  Hopefully I am creating muscle!!

Friday, Week 24:

Exercise:
YES!!!!  My alarm clock was set to go off at 6:00 a.m. .... correctly!!!  And it did not go off!!!  Thank goodness I woke up.  I may have to get a new alarm clock. It was not set for P.M. instead of A.M.  It just did not go off.  And then it mysteriously went off at a time I did not even have it set for.  I think it got its screws mixed up.

KettleWorx today was "Cardio".  I was wet with sweat when I got in the shower but I felt good.  I kept up!!  Yea!!  One exercise was bicycles; hands down on the ground and legs behind you dong the bicycle.  Lots of hopped and knee action.  .I swapped and did "The Plank" instead.  My knees could not have taken that action.

Daily comments:
Tonight is Game Night!  The entire family gets together at my mom and dad's house once a month.  We eat and plays games.  It is a great time to laugh!  I am looking forward to it.  We are eating purple hull peas, squash casserole, rotisserie chicken, and cheese cake.

Thursday, Week 24:

Exercise:
I set my alarm to get up and KettleWorx this morning however, I set my alarm incorrectly!  The extra hour of sleep I thoroughly enjoyed but I did not get to do my "cardio" workout.  Man!!  Oh well... I'll do it tomorrow!  I will "Plank" several times today. to make up for it.

Daily comments:
Metabolism!  To help yourself lose weight your metabolism needs to be kicked into high gear for maximum weight loss.  Watching what you eat, monitoring your portion sizes, and choosing certain things that you can eliminate from your diet (like sodas) are all good things.  But, you need to eat and keep your blood sugar stabilized through out the day.

A great way to stabilize your blood sugar and boost your metabolism is to eat every three hours.  Now that does not mean you need to eat a full meal every 3 hours.  But... 3 hours after you eat you need to eat something approximately 100 calories to boost your metabolism until the next meal.    Letting your body know food is coming every 3 hours will keep your body from storing fat.

Wednesday, Week 24:

Exercise:
Oh Yes!  I love to Kettlebell.  My DVD today was "Resistance".  It was great.  I was able to do all the exercises.  Only one exercise was difficult for me.

I have bad knees.  I can not squat.  The exercise that was difficult, I had to squat in a baseball catchers position with feet flat on the floor and do heel raises.  I can not fully squat in a baseball catchers position.  So not squatting fully and then trying to do heel raises makes me tilt forward.  So I did not feel successful on this one.  I will do "Cardio" tomorrow.

I pulled out my stop watch this evening and timed myself doing "The Plank".  I can easily do 35 seconds.  That is huge!  When I look back at the first day I tried,  I am sure I could not even do 5 seconds.  I am improving!!

It was a busy day at work.  I had lots of paperwork to handle.

I ate lunch at Luby's.  For dinner I made Homemade vegetable beef stew.  Yum!!  While I ate, I watched The Biggest Loser.  I am always touched when a team wins a challenge and the reward is a video conversation with their family and then a winner gives their reward to someone else on the show cause they know they need it more.  Man!  It makes tears in my eyes.  They are all on the ranch so long... they miss their family.  You can see the pain.

Sunday, Week 24:

Daily comments:
Oh my!  I have had an amazing day!  Worshiping the Lord was excellent.  One of our church elders delivered a very encouraging and motivating sermon of service and generosity for community in 2012.

Following the worship service, my son Marty and I went to Applebee's for lunch.  The food was soooo good.  We had Spinach and Artichoke dip for an appetizer.  I ate Oriental Chicken Salad with grilled chicken.  It was absolutely delicious.

The best part of my day came after lunch.  We went to the mall to go shopping.  Marty needed jeans, khakis, and shirts.  I wanted to try on a smaller size pair of pants.  Hallelujah!!  I have lost another pants size.  Woo Hoo!  Size 12!!  I bought 3 pairs of pants and a couple of new blouses, size medium.  You know... just when you think you are not making any headway... Bam!!  I am so excited.  I am so thankful!!

My day just kept getting better.  Melissa, Anthony, and Arianna came over and ate dinner with us.  Anthony did the honors and cooked steaks out on the grill.  Anthony is master of the grill.  Wow!  Good steaks!!  I threw together mashed potatoes and green beans.  We all ate very well.  Melissa brought the dessert.  Cake Pops that she made.  MM-mm-good!!

Never Give Up! #30

Posted by | Tagged as: top 100 weight loss tips
I’m back with another of my Top 100 weight loss tips that I just added to the series as article number 30. Please note that this is an original article written for weightlossgo.com and as such is copyright protected. This post will be one hard hitting motivator that you are going to love!
Its one where you know what you have to do and you know how you are going to do it. It’s about determination, fighting spirit and outright stubbornness! If you truly want and are determined to lose weight fast, you should never give up!

Why You Should Never Give Up

One thing that tends to defeat people who are desperately trying to lose weight is the actual thought of failure. It pervades every cell of your being until it becomes a reality. But it doesn’t have to be that way! In fact, it should never be that way as long as you have one redeeming feature that can raise its head above all other concerns, fears and doubts. Its that unrelenting pig-headed tenacity that those who always succeed at whatever they set out to do have in abundance. They set their minds to succeed and they never give up!
Never giving up is about falling over and picking yourself up again. If you fall off a bike, you get straight back on and keep riding, because if you don’t you will maybe never get on a bike ever again. Its the same with anything in life. You have to take the knocks and straight away put them behind you as you look only forward to your goal, whatever it may be.
When it comes specifically to finding the right weight loss solutions, you have to have the same mind set. You have to be determined to do it, if for no other reason than you want to do it for yourself. What anyone else thinks doesn’t matter squat.
It’s all about what you think and it’s what you believe you can do that counts here. If you try a diet program and you fail to lose any weight, you don’t give up there. You try something else. If you try a daily workout program but it doesn’t do it for you, you don’t put it away and say, “Hey, that’s it, I’m done with this!” You try something else!
And you keep on trying something else until one of those “something else’s” works for you!
This is what determination and tenacity are all about. Its doing something and keeping on doing it despite any failures along the way until any or all of those failures turns into success. As it invariably must when you set your sights on a goal and are determined enough to achieve it. You achieve anything in life by being determined to get it. Its the same with losing weight.
Stop thinking about doing it and just do it. And keep on doing it until you succeed. That’s what happens when we say “Never Give Up!”

Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts. (Colossians 3:15a)

But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen and protect you from the evil one. (2 Thessalonians 3:3)

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. (2 Thessalonians 3:16)

For God did not give us a spirit of timidity, but a spirit of power, of love and of self-discipline. (2 Timothy 1:7)

Inspirational Thought:

Just a little progress

Even just a little progress, is progress. Even the smallest step forward is very much worth taking, because it maintains a positive momentum.
If you’re not moving ahead as fast as you’d like, don’t get discouraged. Get creative, get inspired, get focused and get truly enthusiastic about the direction you’re going.
Then, take the next step, and keep yourself moving steadily toward the goal. Remind yourself that even when you’re going slowly, you’re going solidly in the direction you’ve chosen.
Yes, the setbacks will certainly come, and when they do, you’ll know exactly how to quickly recover because you’ve been doing it all along. Get back up, face forward, and take the next step.
Even if it were possible, you wouldn’t want all your dreams to be fulfilled at once. It’s far more satisfying to savor each milestone as it comes, and to know that there will be many more.
Spend this day celebrating, enjoying and making use of your chance to make a little progress. Feel how great it feels to continue moving forward.

Friday, Week 23:

Daily comments:
Thursday night Steve and I worked late.  We were packing up my office and moving my desk into another office in preparation for a new employee.  As we headed home in the cold we decided to stop and eat so we would not have to cook when we got home.  We stopped for Mexican food.  It was so tasty.  Shortly after getting home I went straight to bed.  I forgot to blog.  Eeeeek!!

Today I vacuumed and cleaned my office.  A new L-shaped desk was delivered for me.  Then I unpacked, cleaned, and organized.  I should have taken a picture... it looks nice.

Today was one of our employees last day.  Raul was heading back to college.  For a good send off, we took him to lunch.  A small group of us ate at Pradaria, a Churrascaria or a Brazilian steakhouse.  (Steve chose the restaurant.)  The waiters walk around with swords loaded with meat.  They stop by your table, ask you if you want whatever meat they have on their sword, you say yes or no, then they cut off strips of meat onto your plate.  Trying to be a good girl, I ate salad and meat.  But I ate a bunch of meat.  I was not stuffed when I left... that's good.

For dinner I ate an apple and a pear.

Exercise:
I love my new KettleWorx Kettlebells and DVDs.  The program is set-up as a six week program.  However, you can repeat any week and make the program longer to suit your individual needs.  I did not master the first week.  I have been winded.  I have been sore.  I have been struggling to handle all the exercises.  Therefore I will be repeating the first week.

Philippians 3:13-14

New International Version (NIV)
13 Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, 14 I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Wednesday, Week 23

Daily comments:
I had planned on Kettlebelling this morning and was looking forward to it but I had to give Gidget all my attention this morning.  She has to be careful for 5 days after being spayed.  It is just like having a hysterectomy.  She is not allowed to jump or run.  I have to keep Pikachu away from her for awhile.  They play too ruff together.  I will have to closely monitor her till Monday.  I brought her to work with me today.  She has been so good.  I finally got her to eat her food by sweetening it with my Olive Garden vegetable soup.  She was then full and happy and curled up in her Pet Taxi and slept for a long time.

My numbers on the scale were good this morning.  They are moving in the right direction.  I hope I can keep it up and have a good number on the scale on Saturday!!

Tuesday, Week 23:

Exercise:
Yes!  Feels good!  I can't wait for tomorrow!!

Daily comments:
Monday morning I slept in and did not exercise.  I was tired and my muscles were still very sore.  Monday night I went to bed early cause I had to get up this morning and take Gidget to the vet to get her spayed.  I did not blog.  I forgot to blog until I was in the bed and I was not getting up!!

Today I got up early and Kettlebelled.  Woo Hoo!  My muscles are feeling much better.  Then I dressed and took Gidget to the vet.  It was 48 degrees this morning.  I came back home, showered and got ready for work.  Had a great day.  I ate good Mexican food for lunch.  Left work at 4:30 p.m. to go pick up Gidget.  Poor baby.  She was groggy but looked good.  She was either mad or scared because of the cone on her head so that she could not or would not lick her incision. Once settled at home with the cone off she slept in a blanket in my lap for hours.  She drank a little bit.  Nibbled a little bit. I think I got a pain pill down her throat  She walked slowly in the yard to potty and is now tucked in for the night.  She will be going to work with me tomorrow so I can continue nursing her...Poor Baby!!

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. (Matthew 11: 28-31)
